The hot hatch scene is enjoying an active season with models such as the Mark VII Golf GTi and Mercedes A45 joining the fray but who would have thought that the Koreans would join the party as well?
Behold the pro_cee’d GT, Kia’s take on what a performance-inclined hatchback should be. Based on the three-door pro cee’d hatch, this GT variant carries a 1.6-litre GDi turbocharged engine under its hood. This plant delivers 204hp and 265Nm of torque to its front wheels via a six-speed manual transmission.
On paper, the pro_cee’d GT will do 0-100 in 7.7 seconds all the way to 230kmph. Kia has not overlooked fuel efficiency despite the focus on all things sporty, quoting consumption figures of 7.4 litres per 100km and 171g/km of CO2 emissions.
Apart from its GT badge, the pro_cee’d GT is easily distinguishable from the standard car, riding on massive 18-inch rims which lightly veil bright red brake calipers. Inside, the GT gets Recaro seats, alloy pedals and a 7-inch TFT instrument cluster among other things.
