Eurosport Auto and Lamborghini Singapore secured a precious double podium in the opening two rounds of the 2013 GT Asia Series held at the famous Twin Ring Motegi Circuit in Japan.
After a successful season in the 2012 Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia Cup, the team is back again, with Ro Charlz teaming up with Tunku Hammam of Malaysia behind the wheel of a brand new 2013 Reiter Lamborghini GT3 FL2 race car.
Round one proved challenging from the get-go, with treacherous conditions on the track due to heavy storms. From dropping to sixth on the opening lap, Ro Charlz then picked up the pace till he found himself slugging it out for first place with Aston Martin driver Stephan Mucke.
The two went into the pits midway through for their mandatory driver change with Hammam taking over Charlz and Frank Yu replacing Mucke. Aside from a small error at turn one, Hammam maintained good pace to ensure that deLaCour Lamborghini finished in third.
Race two was a little more forgiving, with clear sunny skies welcoming the drivers instead of a dangerously wet track. This time, Tunku Hammam started the race and drove well to overtake Dilantha’s Audi R8 LMS and Samson’s Ford GT to get up to fifth position before letting Charlz taking over the driver seat.
Charlz again put up a good fight with the same spirit that got him the fastest lap time in Round 1, managing a third place overall finish by the end of the race.
