This is the Mazda Takeri concept, unveiled on t’internet ahead of its public debut at next month’s Tokyo motor show.

The latest concept to emerge from Mazda’s new ‘Kodo’ design language hints at the next generation Mazda 6, and it is a pleasingly aggressive hint.

The Takeri aims to bring “a new level of strength and allure to mid-size saloon styling”, and will house Mazda’s first regenerative braking system. When you depress your braking foot, helper pixies magically transform the kinetic energy into electricity and store it into capacitors, which then power the Takeri’s electric equipment, easing the engine load and thus, saving fuel and lowering emissions.

But then you knew that already, right? The Takeri also gets Mazda’s new 2.2-litre ‘Skyactiv-D’ diesel engine, together with start-stop, a lightweight structure and new chassis technologies promising “vigorous performance and a comfortable high-quality ride”. Would you want your performance any other way?

What’s your take on the Takeri, fevered Internet warriors? Would you buy a 6 if it looked like this?
