Proton and Yes announced a technical collaboration to roll out Malaysia’s first 4g internet equipped cars. The new Proton models will be equipped with Yes 4G dongles that will allow the users to connect to internet on the move. The first car to be benefitted from this would be the forthcoming P3-21A sedan, due for a launch soon.
Yes 4G mobile internet network currently covers 65 percent of the country’s populated areas, also offering seamless connectivity along the whole of the North-South Expressway and a large section of East-Coast Expressway. The set-up in the car can handle up to five mobile devices. Proton and Yes also plan to provide applications like remote real-time vehicle diagnostics, security and location-based services to enhance the driving experience.
To kick start this alliance, Proton and Yes are giving away a special edition Proton Inspira, worth RM100,000 as a grand prize in their Facebook contest. The Yes 4G internet enabled car is equipped with three Apple iPad 2s and a Yes Huddle wireless mobile router. It also gets a special paint job and limited edition 18-inch rims.
