Viper gets Hennessey treatment
Posted on: October 4th, 2012

The latest car to go under the microscope of the guys at Hennessey Performance is the 2013 SRT Viper. The famed tuners of American performance vehicles will be offering two packages for their rendition of the iconic muscle car – the Venom 700R and Venom 1000 Twin Turbo.

The Venom 700R carries the 8.4-litre V10 engine found in the SRT Viper but the output of 640hp is tuned to a figure of 725hp, producing a whopping 941Nm of torque. The increase in horsepower and torque results in a shorter century sprint of 3.1 seconds all the way to a top speed of 347km/h.

As expected of Hennessey, a hardcore variant is ever present and with the Viper, it comes in the form of the Venom 1000 Twin Turbo. As its name suggests, the car gets two turbochargers which hikes the engine’s output up to a staggering 1,120hp and 1479Nm of torque. This massive output increase allows the car to do 0-100km/h in just 2.7 seconds, completing the quarter mile in 9.7 seconds at 244km/h.

The Viper is already renowned as an out-and-out American muscle car and the Venom 700R and 1000 Twin Turbo are just two examples of what Hennessey is famous for – squeezing out unfathomable figures from already ridiculously powerful cars such as the SRT10.
