The Caterham R500 is a car of legend in the TopGear history books since it eclipsed the lap time of a Bugat
ti Veyron on the TopGear test track back in 2008. Now though, it has a successor – the fastest and most powerful Caterham Seven ever.
Named the R600, the car now packs a turbocharger which also makes it the first Seven to make use of forced induction. This results in 275hp and 270Nm of torque coming out of the 2.0-litre Ford Duratec engine which may not sound like much until you recall that this car carries the ‘Superlight’ moniker to its name.
As raw as the car seems, it is not cheap, bearing a pricetag of £44,995. Owners of the R300 can also send their car in for a supercharged expansion pack which will bring it to par with the R600′s specifications but no price for that has been indicated as yet. Also, there’s one last gripe – this is strictly a track-only vehicle which means that you won’t be able to use its roll cage for your grocery shopping needs.
