Aston goes dark
Fancy a fix of motorsport this weekend? Then get yourself on a SqueezyJet aimed for Portugal and head for the brand-new Autodromo Internacional circuit on the Algarve.
The first-ever Le Mans Series night race gets underway on Saturday and runs for 1000km, that’s 215 laps, into the early hours of Sunday morning.
Among the entries are Aston Martin Racing who have two cars on the grid, fresh from Le Mans.
You’ve gotta fancy them for a podium too, as there are no factory-backed diesels to ruin things – just a privately-entered Peugeot HDi FAP.
The 2.89-mile circuit was only finished last year so the tarmac is barely dry. Should be nice and sticky then, which will suit the Gulf-liveried Astons.
The team held a full Le Mans shakedown there in April so they’ve got a pretty good idea about which way it goes.
Darren Turner will be in car 009 and you can read all about our time with him at this year’s Le Mans 24hrs, in the current issue of Top Gear Magazine, on sale now.

That is such a good looking car, if they do F1 with closed cockpits for safety reasons if they look like that Aston it will be no bad thing at all.
