Alfa 8C Spider

In our filing cabinet marked 'Rumours We Really, Really Want To Come True', this is right at the top, alongside the one about Ralf Schumacher being made entirely out of papier mache.

But sadly we'll have to wait a while longer to find out if there's any truth to the gossip that the gorgeous Alfa 8C Competizione will spawn a convertible variant.

Despite speculation that an 8C Spider will arrive at the end of 2008, an Alfa insider said today that nothing has been confirmed.

However, our source acknowledged that a Spider was one option being considered, and that more information could be revealed at the official launch of the 8C Competizione later this year.

All 500 of the limited-run Competiziones have already been sold, with just 42 left-hand-drive models coming to the UK in early 2008.

That's one very good reason to pray for an 8C Spider - it'll double the very slim chances of you getting your hands on one.
