New Accord gets into lane

Clever new safety system keeps the Honda on course

Honda Accord

Honda's revised Accord is now on sale and comes with an innovative lane departure safety system.

The Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) may not have the catchiest title, but it is clever.

It applies a small amount of pressure to the steering to keep the car on course when it senses the vehicle moving out of its lane.

The LKAS works by using a small camera mounted in the rear view mirror to monitor the road ahead and detect any drifting.

The new Accord also comes with adaptive cruise control to keep the car a constant distance from the vehicle in front, and an Advanced Driver Assist System to increase the amount of road the driver monitors.

The new Accord is on sale now from £17,030.
