Mazda2

To defend itself against the onslaught of the latest superminis, Mazda has given its 2 a face peel.

The result is some new front and rear foglights and a bit of black trim around the windows. Hardly radical stuff, but then the Mazda2 has always been one of the perkier looking cars in the class.

Inside, new fabrics liven things up while under the bonnet, the 1.4-litre turbodiesel now meets the tightest emissions regulations and returns 60.1mpg.

The revised Mazda2 is on sale now with prices starting at £8,700.
