Mitsubishi is shaping up to be one of the star attractions of the Frankfurt motor show in September.
Alongside the unveiling of the Lancer saloon and Evo X, we'll get a butcher's at the Concept-cX.
The cX not only mixes up its upper and lower cases - a growing trend for concepts - but it also mixes up elements of small SUV and family saloon.
Based on the Lancer platform, the cX has a raised ride height, is fitted with four-wheel drive and uses environmentally friendly plastics.
The engine is an eco-friendly 1.8-litre turbodiesel coupled to a manual gearbox that does away with the clutch pedal in favour of a twin-clutch set-up. This engine and transmission combo is expected to appear on production Mitsubishis from 2009 - paving the way for (whisper it) a diesel Evo perhaps?
No word on whether the cX will ever make it into production, but it does point the way for the Lancer estate, due later in 2008.
