Renault Kangoo

Mad stuff over on the Renault stand in the shape of this, the Kangoo concept.

Yes, that's the Kangoo, the van-with-windows much beloved of farmers and those of limited mobility. But look at this one, with its orange-on-silver paintjob (Fireball Orange and Brushed Aluminium, we're assured), and cute robot face and unfeasibly gigantic glasshouse.

The Kangoo concept is an early runner for our coveted 'Maddest Concept in Show' award. The rear bench swivels 180 degrees to face out the rear, where the tailgate folds down to reveal... two sets of rollerblades. Seriously. Not sure whether they're optional extras or not.

Looking closely, the two-door concept does have a few flashes of the original Kangoo, in those huge, oddly shapeless windows and slightly top-heavy shape.

We don't remember seeing the mesh-fabric seats or hinged glass roof in the original, though, while the ride height has jumped by a full 20 centimetres.

Our favourite mad touch? The speedometer which, according to Renault, 'incorporates a manual speed limiter as well as a blue zone representing the speed range of a person on roller skates, i.e. 0 to 80kph'.

Eighty kilometres per hour on roller skates? Told you there was some mad stuff happening on the Renault stand.
