High-as-a-kite concept

Suzuki's Kizashi sketch leaves the real world miles behind

Suzuki Kizashi

With the Frankfurt motor show a mere month away, it's time for the inevitable way-over-the-top concept sketches to come out in force.

First up this year is the Suzuki Kizashi concept. Ambitious, certainly, but what on Earth does it have to do with any car we'll ever see on the road?

In truth, not a lot. Kizashi means 'prelude' in Japanese - indicating that this swoopy, low concept previews a future production car. We look forward to the Ford 'This is What it Might Look Like' concept and Merc's 'Hah, Fat Chance' sketch.

Although you'd struggle to guess it from the image, that production car is likely to be a mid-sized saloon aiming to drive Suzuki upmarket.

As an indication of future Suzuki design language, we're reservedly impressed, but we'll wait until Frankfurt to see the concept in the flesh before passing judgment.

Here's hoping the monster grill and ouch-my-neck roofline make it to production.
