Aston Martin V8 Vantage Roadster

The phrase 'art installation' strikes fear into the hearts of all right-thinking humans, so it's worrying that a resurgent Aston Martin has chosen these very words for its Detroit motor show display.

Thankfully, on closer inspection, the Aston artwork is not so much installation as just one huge picture, shot by Rene Staud, who it turns out is a bit useful with a Box Brownie.

The picture of the Icelandic landscape with a couple of V8 Vantage Roadsters in there somewhere will take up 100 square metres of backdrop on Aston's Detroit stand.

All this just so Aston boss Dr Ulrich Bez could describe the V8 Roadster as a "beautiful piece of art".
