Light artillery
Fancy a stripped-out Aston Vantage to do battle with the Ferrari 430 Scuderia and Gallardo Superleggera?
Well, there's always the race-prep N24. But if you want a car that won't force you to strip down to your skivvies whenever the sun comes out, you'll be wanting one of these: the LMV/R from Florida-based tuning firm Elite.
Based on the V8 Vantage, it's a lightened, street legal racer with a whole lot of carbon fibre on board. Virtually every panel on the LMV/R is rendered in the lightweight weave, including the bonnet, quarter panels and boot lid.
Which means the LMV/R is a proper featherweight. Elite hasn't confirmed exactly how much lighter it is than the stock Vantage, but given that the Challenge Stradale and Gallardo Superleggera were each around 100kg lighter than their full-fat cousins, we reckon the LMV/R will weigh in around 1,450kg.
There's more going on here than mere lightness, though. The LMV/R gets bigger wheels and tyres, stiffer springs, uprated brakes and a new exhaust system which should add a few extra horsepower's to the Vantage's already sufficient 420bhp. In the cabin you'll find lots and lots of Alcantara and more carbon fibre.
All this lightweight goodness doesn't come cheap: Elite is asking around £100,000 for the LMV/R - not including the 80-something grand you'll have to drop on a brand new donor car (nope, they won't rebuild a Vantage with a few miles on the clock).
That's a fair hunk of cash, but it does buy you exclusivity at least: Elite plans to build just 30 LMV/Rs. Anyone tempted?

In theory a DBS could turn into a DB/GT1.

Woow that Aston Looks soooo cool, but why are Aston Martin making tones of new cars.. like the Aston Martin One - 77, Aston Martin Vantage V12, DBS Volante or whatever!!! and this one. I think that they should make a GT series they would be cool.... I like the new but they are making to many cars..... Calvin x

the car looks pretty cool but ithink that all the astons are now showing their age, high time designers at aston come with something different and aesthetic but a true blue brit sports car.

Do they do it with the V12 or is it just the V8? I wonder if Aston themselves will do a light version of the V8 somewhere between the standard car and the bonkers N24.

Man this image is digitally edited (Photoshop) i am a graphic designer, i know lot about it. Look at the black stripes and green area around exhaust, this parts shine mate, just like they are made of rubber. Car paint or vinyl dont shine like that.

Why does everyone keep asking "Why is Aston Martin tuning their cars?" They aren't. Reading comprehension seems to be above some of you...if you had read the article it clearly says "Florida-based tuning firm Elite" does the modifications. Florida as in America. We've got some taste after all.

1450kg is not exactly lightweight, is it? Considering the original and the competition, yes. But on its own merits, that's still quite a lot to get around a corner on four strips of rubber and nothing else...

just as a completely stupid idea why not put tanks inside the aston and fill them with helium or hydrogen (whatever is better) and then in theory it will be lighter and yet all the equipment could still be kept or lost to make it even lighter.

I'll stick with a V12 Vantage, ta. At least then I won't be showing off any lack of taste. I mean, look at that stupid Zorro mask across the back. And the blatant Scuderia-copying in the rear bumper redesign. And all the extra pointless holes in it. Trying to improve an Aston will only make it worse. Stig's Irish Cousin, that would be the N400.

First comment :D, Yeah it looks quite good but why are Aston Martin tuning Vantages? Why not the DBS that's only got 510HP i mean that's quite a lot but that vantage will eventually end up with more HP than the DBS! Aston Martin do something with the DBS!
