You call that a cop car?
This, Top Gear fans, is the new Vauxhall Turkey. Sorry, ‘Turnkey'.
It's the latest off-the-shelf rozzer car from GM and, as you've probably noticed, it's also the new Astra. British bobbies have been thrashing around in Astras for years now and as any surburbanite will tell you, a petty crime isn't a petty crime without the soundtrack of an utterly spanked diesel engine and crap siren.
But this new car is a bit sparklier than usual. Coppers can now choose from three levels of police graphics: half, three-quarter and full.
Half? Surely that means a couple of fluorescent squares and the word ‘Pol' stuck down the side. Maybe it's a cost-saving thing. Or maybe it's just a plan to fool thick criminals.
We reckon they could have gone further. Like the telly boys did with theirs...

lol "ninja cops" - Milamber In Tas they don't even have the stripes, they just have a plain holdern but with a cop in uniform inside and when they need to they put a light on the dash. Though all the cars they have are usually the same colour sorta of a light satin desert-ish browny colour.

We're going to lose the Crown Victoria soon in the USA (if Ford follows through with its plans to stop producing it). I suspect the police will opt for the Dodge Charger as a replacement. Time will tell.

in melb the cops all have either holden commodores (the highway patrol get V8 engines in thiers though im pretty sure its the SS version with 270KW (about 360hp)) one of our cops got caught doing in excess of 200km/h one time. claimed he was "testing the limits of the vehical so he was prepared for a chase". the guys in orbost also have suby WRX's and are mental...they do handbrake turns and come after u if they think your doing something wrong ...or if they are bored. our ninja cops have the livery on the sides so they can still be seen on city streets to control crowds and still work as undercover cars. they are all dark charcol so at night u can barly see them in your rear view. we also have an undercover car near where i live thats lime green and an XR6 turbo. they use it to challange people to drags and then book them for it. lol

in Melbourne, Aus, i have actually seen us take it a couple steps too far. a Nissan Skyline R33 import with no visual references to a cop car, a p-plate stuck on it and the only way of telling, a police light in the rear window and a police man driving it.

Puh, nothing compared to the situation in the Netherlands. Highway police has been now informed that they are not allowed to exceed 140 km p/h (120 p/h) as brakes might set fire while breaking from high speeds. This is mandatory for all new Volvo V50 estate cars our police purchased recently. When in need of chasing a fast baddy boy the Dutch police first has to go back to HQ to change cars for the Volvo V70. no I am not joking

We have "halfs" in aus. basically they are unmarked police cars with police stripe on the sides and back. so they look like normal holden commodores (the basic family car the VXR8 is based on) from the front and from all other angles they look like a weird semi cop car. the fact that they dont have lights on the roof and are a dark colour means they can sneek up on you from behind without u noticing its a cop but when they need to go on chases the strip on the other panels makes them very visible. they are like ninja cops.
