M-Mission
With Mercedes soon to unleash the SLS and Audi's R8 kicking lumps out of the competition, BMW is looking noticeably short in the German supercar stakes right now.
OK, we saw that M1 concept last year, but it looks unlikely to reach production any time soon.
So South African designer Idries Noah has taken matters into his own hands with this, the M Concept. It isn't, we should stress, an official BMW concept, but it's not bad, is it?
Even better than the Corvette Fireblade concept that Noah showed us last year, in fact. We love the wraparound rear deck and the neat diffuser, and though there might be just a bit too much going on down the flanks, just check out the way Noah has incorporated BMW's trademark ‘kidney grilles' into the M's front end.
Noah hasn't specified what engine might power the M Concept, but it's always fun to speculate. The 4.0-litre V8 from the M3? The 5.0-litre V10 from the M5? Or how about some mega-turbocharged version of the straight six from the 335i, putting out - ooh, about 500bhp?

yeh, where are the doors. looks pretty cool but it looks nothing like a bmw. and i think the design is just a bit too futuristic or over-the -top i mean, its got like 6 grills at the front.

Good though it looks, as an unofficial concept it's fairly unlikely to get past the drawing board. I still fancy the M1 concept; Ford have already demonstrated how good a revived and updated classic can look and perform, now it's BMW's turn.

This design is based on 'the flow of water'. It looks good. Perhaps stick 2 cylinders on the M5 engine and get it up to 600bhp? BMW should really just make a sports car - they've been making all their recent cars sporty, and in some cases it has h\mpered their luxury side, so instead of almost messing up all their saloons, they should just get it out of their system and make a supercar. And use Idries Noah's design that you see here. With doors.

Id buy this over the Audi- aslong as goes how it looks. I say a revamped version of the Mclaren F1's V12 Since BMW made that. just push it from 550 bhp to 600. (with an 'M' package making it 700bhp) it will eat the audi for dinner, unless they ruin it with their I-drive system. I want all the power now when i put the key in not after i set it up.

It looks like a mangled up cross between a BMW M1, Aston Martin One-77 and somehow a bit of Audi R8.... which means it looks absolutely amazing! Onto the engine. How fast do you think it would go with the 'Big Buggy' Veyron's 1001bhp W16??? My guess is: quite fast. Actually I take that back, very, very fast indeed!

YES PLEASE, this car looks sweet, im a BMW fan and i gotta say some BMWs nowadays arent exactly pretty, this would be amazing though, these looks and what I would think based on BMWs engineers, this would easily give the audi R8 a nice slap in the face. Looks amazing, my suggestion, use BMW M5s V10 boosted by turbos or a supercharger. Would really be amazing to see this car come out, way better looking than R8 and thats a beautiful car.

A while ago there was talk of a turbocharged version of the M5 with something like 570BHP to combat the Audi RS6, maybe they could use that. And hey, imagine when Alpina get their pshycopathic hands on it. Alternatively to the 8-Series it could be M8...

Bring back the 8 series. Make a standard model using this design with the 5 litre V10 in it, then make an M version with some bonkers new diesel putting out oodles of horses. Now that is something I would love to see the M division tackle. Rumour has it that AMG are busy working on some high-performance diesels time for M to get on it :)

Of course it wont be like this when its produced. Because hood, bumper and some shapes of the car are very hard to produce ( I know it from my girlfriends family, car pattern production company). This is the main problem the designers are just guys that dream about a car and never think about how to build it. So there is a huge difference between drawing the concept and production.

If BMW were able to built the superb engine for the McLaren F1, why can't they built a better one, that would be the yardstick for all other engines for a decade? C'mon M division, you have the knoledge, built the damn engine, strap it on this one (or better yet, as i've seen on other comments, make a new 8 series, but keep the original look alive) and beet every hypercar on the market today. Even the Veyron. I'm sure it can be done. After all, when the F1 was first introduced no one thought there will be a car manufacturer to built a much better hypercar for a much longer time that it took Bugatti (or, errr, VW) to make the Veyron.

USAF1Fan, you should just die. If youve been watching F1 lately, you would know that Kubica's engine sucks. so if you want a breakdown every race, yeah put Kubica's engine in it. No you would be better off with a Ford GT engine, sir, or an S5 engine (same as the R8)
