BMW takes its lightweight, hotted-up CSL successor for a spin round the circuit

BMW M3 GTS

If, for some inexplicable reason you weren't excited by BMW's announcement last week of the M3 GTS - the spiritual successor to the lightweight, hardcore CSL - we have just the tonic.

Here's a quick video of the GTS spinning on its SEMA show stand - and, more importantly, spinning around a desolate track in full oversteer mode.

For a sticky-tyred, track-ready super saloon, it looks... rather slidey. That'll be the effect of 450bhp charging through the rear tyres, then.

If this quick clip has whetted your appetite for GTS action, follow this link over to YouTube for a proper four-minute video of the ultimate M3. Loving your slow motion work, guys...

Looks rubbish (I don't think orange & black helps), but it'll be brilliant to drive, and if you're driving, you don't have to look at it.

Looks like someone is put off about the Cadillac CTS-V's lap time around the Nurburgring...

Old CSL looked better, but I like the not oversized vents in the bonnet, the front lip, the exhaust and the wing as it's not silly on a track car.. Nice touch but it would look better in black. I think in general the older m3s was cleaner and better looking but this ain't ugly, it's purpose built... I want one!
