Bored of the rings
Isn't it annoying when you buy an Audi R8 only to discover it's not a BMW?
The owner of this one, spotted by French car blog Autoboost, must have given himself a right old slapping when he saw those four rings starring back at him. So he peeled them off and whacked on a few Beemer badges.
Then he stuck some on the engine, the bonnet and the tail, before driving it around St Petersburg so some people could take his picture.
For the full naff factor, he also glued a BMW 850i badge to the back.
We have no idea why. Is this the most schizophrenic car ever? Please tell us if you've seen a worse example of ‘badge engineering'...

Walked out of a hotel in Munich to find an X3 badged as a Mercedes a couple of years back - bonnet, boot, steering wheel and alloys. I mean WHY???????? It's not as if anyone wouldn't know it was an X3 - especially in Munich for crying out loud. People are weird. The end.

That R8 looks nice in matt black. I have before seen a Ferrari badge on an old Punto - you're not fooling anyone, mate. But I went to Halfords the other day (hey, don't look at me like that, I went in to buy a cigarette lighter thingy and some new carpets). There was an aisle that must've been hard for them not to name the "Chav Tat" aisle, what with novelty tax disc holders and LED gearstick heads and all that, but there were "RS" badges, like on a GT3 RS, there was a Porsche "Turbo" badge, Honda "Type R", and so on. That's just bad! Why would you even think that would work or in any way fool anyone! The only people who will know or care about the significance of those badges will be people that know you're lying! Fake badges are among Chav tat of the highest order. All they do is cheapen the look of your probably-already pitiful car.

As for re-badging an R8, perhaps he's making the point that all German cars are the same? Although the Audi R8 is surely the exception to this rule? Maybe he's bitter about the fact that BMW don't make a V8 sports car - no, the 6-Series doesn't count, that's really a GT - so he's being picky and has BMW-ed an R8 instead. The car tells me he's rich enough to be childishly picky.

the chavs over in northern ireland seem to buy vw boras and audi a4 diesels, they then put on either r32 or rs4 stickers and bodykits. its rediculos especially on the a4 because its a nice car but with a rs4 badge its the biggest let down to discover they are disels.

Any car that's been lowered without stiffening the springs or dampers. Just watch them seesaw by. You lot got it all wrong! He sold his Audi and R8 badges to someone wanting to pimp up their Punto. Then he went to the nearest BMW and lifted a few badges. That's how you manage to pay the mortgage these days ;) As for rebadging, what I've seen most of here in Norway is old Audi's (100 and A6, C4) with R, or RS badges fitted to them. But the lack of exhaust and usually the wrong front tells the true story, as does the lack of quattro. Can't remember anything horrible tough.

Ugh! I've seen a few Holdens badged as Chevrolets in Australia, it is such a bogan thing to do but at least they have enough grey matter to use badges from the same parent company despite the fact that Holdens are sold in the US as Pontiacs. 1 of the funniest I've ever seen was a Holden Commodore re-badged as a Ford - blasphemy!!!!

The worst "badge engineering" comes from Romania. The roads are full with 30-year old Dacia 1300's with BMW, Mercedes, or Renault badges on the front,also all three in the same time, "original" TypeR seat covers, '80 BMW 3-series dashboards, GT-R stickers on the doors and boot lid, stick-on "flames" to cover the rust and holes in the bodywork and aftermarket wood-like steering wheels with Mercedes 3-point star in the middle. More recently, people started being more realistic and are applying "LOGAN" stickers on the windscreen and badges from the Dacia Logan on the front and the back. Be aware, you don't know when such a car might brake down or explode!

I saw a Shanghuan SCEO, the Chinese X5 clone, with all it's Chinese branding ripped off and replaced with BMW badges, even on the steering wheel. The owner must be the biggest cock in the world. The end result looked horrid!

Oh I can beat the lot, once saw a Smart ForTwo parked at a hotel I was staying at, it was red (nothing wrong with that) and the front grille with the Smart Badges had been removed in favour of a Ferrari Grille! Even had the cheek to put a ferrari badge on the back.

A saw an aftermarket Type R sticker on the side of a car obviously trying to chav it up a bit. The thing is it wasn't on a Honda but on a Fiat Punto!
