Y'see - the Highways Agency can pull its finger out if it really, really tries; it managed to tear down a 5500-tonne bridge over the M1 in just 36 hours.
Between Friday January 6 and Sunday January 8, the HA used 12 excavators to demolish the 85-metre-long Catthorpe Viaduct. Until mid-December it had carried M6 southbound traffic over the M1.

It took 36 hours to tear it down, but how long did the prep time before that take? Still, fast work.
