Video: that Bugatti lagoon crash
Last week, we showed you a tragic video of a Bugatti Veyron drowning slowly in a Texan lagoon. This video made us sad.
Now, improbably, footage has surfaced of the million-quid hypercar actually plunging into the water. (Thanks to all those who tipped us off, by the way.)
We can't decide whether it's hugely coincidental that some good ol' boys just so happened to be filming the Bug moments before it crashed into the lake... or completely understandable. It's a super-rare exotic supercar, right? You'd have done the same, wouldn't you?
We also can't decide whether it's hugely coincidental that the driver has been identified by local media as the owner of a company that restores wrecked supercars for resale.
Whichever way, we feel there's probably more to come from this story.
Oh, and just a quick warning before you hit play - there's some Very, Very Bad Language on this video. Turn your speakers down if you're at work.
No sign of that rumoured pelican, either...

I looked at both videos. They're both the same video, there is no pelican, and very interestingly, to add to the film crew and driver coincidences, no brake lights are visible. So what do you think? A third coincidence?

This may not be of any importance but the driver had been trying to sell a 2006 Bugatti Veyron for $1.25 million with no takers, then a 2006 Bugatti Veyron happens to crash into a salt lake? Can you say "insurance fraud"?

I saw some videos of that thing yesterday. It's pretty bad considering that damn guy drove his million dollard car into a lake! It's a lake ,man, a l.a.k.e, and look at the size of it, it pretty big. It's not like it was a puddle or anything small like that. You can't possibly miss that. If I would've paid a million dollard for a road car, I would at least pay attention to the road in front of me! He said there was a bird who distracted him and then his cellphone, man, you shouldn't use your cellphone while driving this car. I think it's just the stupidest thing you could do while driving a car with that incredible amount of power under the hood and then the bird, he should've kept his eyes on the road and not elsewhere, he should've been more careful with a car like that and plus, its called brakes wich I don't think he knew he had.

Maybe you did or maybe you did not see that but the 'spoiler' was up wich means he was using the speed on that road, that's another thing he it supposed to know not to do if he's not paying attention. Next time I hope he think of that and he'll buy a cheaper car. I thought in first place that the Bugatti Veyron is a much too powerful car and it shouldn't be sold as for a road car. You can't possibly handle all this power on a road, it's some like a waste of money considering you will possibly never get to use the whole potential of the car. Sorry, it's been long but I wanted to explain my point on why I'm so pissed off by this.

So I was driving north on Interstate 45 (in Texas) after school and saw the Bugatti being taken out of the water and it broke my heart. This is no insurance fraud, the video taker (Joe M Garza) is an acquaintance of mine and we both attend the medical school in Galveston Texas which is minutes south of where this incident happened. He didn't know what he was filming because of his lack of knowledge with exotic cars and there are absolutely NO exotic cars in the little island town of Galveston. We have to drive half an hour north to Houston to see anything besides a corvette here and there.

How insignificant would you feel if you were in an R8 and saw a Veyron on the road? BTW the R8 in the vid is only the V8 version

Let me clear something up. First of all don't call these guys Americans. They are not Americans, they are from Texas. And people from Texas consider themselves Texans before anything else. I wouldn't expect a Texan to know how to drive anything fast. Texas is filled with long straight roads that have speed traps every fifty feet. Last time I drove threw Texas I was pulled over by two cops at the same time and given a speeding ticket by each of them. So, how can you expect any Texan to be able to drive a car like a Veyron or even be interested in supercars let alone a hypercar like a Veyron. Any douche can drive a cheap car off a road. You would never say or those Americans don't know how to drive their Focus' or GMC pacer. Just because you can afford a Veyron doesn't mean you are a good drive. Also, how do you know it was an American driving that Veyron?
