It is Friday the 13th. It is damp (well, it is if you’re in the UK). It’s still over a month until you can look forward to getting embarrassingly drunk at the office Christmas party.
But cheer up: at least your day is going better than this gent’s day.
This gent drives a Bugatti Veyron. Or drove a Bugatti Veyron, rather. Along Interstate 45 in Texas, to be precise, when he was distracted by a low-flying pelican (excuses, excuses), which caused him to veer off the road… and into a lagoon.
A salt-water lagoon. Lovely corrosive water, sloshing through all the expensive mechanical bits of your million-quid, 1000bhp hypercar. Gutted.
The anonymous driver – well, wouldn’t you want to stay anonymous if you’d just binned your Veyron into a lake? – escaped unhurt, which is more than we can say for the poor Bugatti…

I live in Houston and I pass by there every weekend when I go to the beach. IT'S A STRAIGHT ROAD WITH NO TURNS IN IT AT ALL. I find it impossible to be able to do something like that because of a low swooping pelican or because you need to pick your phone off the floor. I'm assuming the owner is probably an 80 year old man that fell asleep or some jackass on his cell phone. After being stationed here in California this week and noting so many stupid drivers (they will literally try and ram you), I'm fearing for the safety of my new VW Gti I just bought before driving here.

You can tell he's not British. He stuck around and admitted what had happened. Any Brit would have called a cab, waited a couple of hours and reported it nicked. They've got a lot to learn. Have read though, that the Veyron is worth more in scrap than it costs to buy...it's 'artificially inexpensive'.

as i was playing this, a lady in my office came in. apparently, her son knows this guy. she showed me a photo of him with the car. seems the guy had this less than a month and was on his mobile when the car crashed. maybe bugatti should run an IQ check before they sell one. owns a bugatti but not a hands free? what an idiot!
