When the Americans make an estate car, it usually features wooden bodywork and is driven by fat men in fishing hats. But this Caddy is different. It's the wagon version of the CTS-V and - just like the saloon version - it is berserk, thanks to a 6.2-litre V8 with 556bhp and 551lb ft of torque.
Fast estate cars don't sell well Stateside - Audi and BMW don't offer their RS6 and M5 tourers over there and Merc struggles to shift many E-Class AMG wagons. Caddy reckons it can change that by undercutting the Germans by up to 20,000 bucks. Which means the CTS-V wagon will cost roughly the same as the saloon, at around $60,000. A cheap and barmy estate? Yee and, indeed, ha.

HEHE, Cadillac try to make a good car that people will buy. I haven't seen a CTS-V ever, and i'm sure i won't see an estate version, either! I'd rather have a RS6, which i have seen!

I really wish us Americans can rekindle our love affair with the wagon (or, estate, as Anglos say). The lack of wagon-love can be directly attributed to what "soccer moms" drove in the past. They started with the wagon, moved to the minivan once they realized they had made the wagon uncool, moved to the SUV once they realized they had made the minivan uncool, and moved to the crossover once they realized they had made the SUV uncool. Estate/wagons are awesome, you get a car's handling characteristics combined with the cargo space of an (albeit, small) SUV. Truth is, this will probably fall flat on its face, but I really hope it doesn't.
