Chrysler's old 300 almost single-handedly resurrected the great American sedan. Now there's an all-new one, and although Chrysler has been through the mill over the past few years, it looks like this one pulls victory from the jaws of defeat.
The new sheet metal is a bit less cartoonish than before. It adds some curves to the waistline and windows, plus jewellery in the lights. But it's still obviously a 300. And even if the grille has been made more heart-shaped, Chrysler recognises some owners loved the old fake-Bentley look and dealers will sell that old-skool square grille as a bolt-on for the new car.
Inside it's got a giant 8.4-inch multimedia screen, and vastly better build quality. That's to say, the dash is no longer a pile of egg-boxes. Chrysler is also making bold claims about the ride and refinement now, but we'll will have to wait to see if that pans out.
The V6 engine is all-new, up to almost 300bhp, and there's a 363bhp 5.7-litre V8 Hemi too. A sophisticated AWD system is optional.
The 300 will go on sale in the UK from spring 2012 with a 3.0-litre V6 diesel. Thoughts, loyal Top Gearers?

ALL AMERICAN CARS ARE RUBBISH, UNECONOMICAL ,UNEFFICIENT AND ABOUT AS UGLY AS A SQUASHED AND MANGLED SLUG. I BET IT ONLY PRODUCES ABOUT ONE HORSE POWER FROM A STUPID 6 LITER ENGINE AND DOES ABOUT FIVE MILES TO THE GALLON

ha- what a complete and utter failure of a comment. If you can only spool out useless sterotypes why speak at all. Mindless f**k**g drone. As for the car, here's to hoping that it is better then the current one, though honestly I do not believe it can be worse.

Oh yeah, like Britain hasn't made some piece of crap cars too? When British and Italian cars fall apart, it's called character, but when American cars do, it's called poor build quality. Don't get me wrong I love Italian cars, but to give all American cars such an insult, it is hideously misinformed. Here's a comment from an American who actually has experienced what he's talking about.
