Cobra Venom V8 concept

If you’re going to draw up an improbable concept inspired by the AC Cobra, you might as well do it properly.

That’s why we take our hat off to British designer Jamie Martin, who’s not only created this rather striking Cobra Venom V8 concept in shiny rendered form, but has even gone to the effort of making a shiny rendered video to demonstrate just how damn handsome it is. Or would be, if it ever got built. Which it won’t.

Ignore all the marketing guff, and instead skip ahead to about a minute in. That’s where the fun starts. Check out the noise. Check out those rear lights.

The Venom is hypothetically powered by a Ford-sourced 524bhp supercharged V8, which would hypothetically manage 62mph in a hypothetical 3.4 seconds, and a hypothetical top speed of 214mph.

And, judging by the video at least, it sounds most excellent too. Please, Mr Martin, prove us wrong. Build it. Or at least find a way to distil Top Gear down into a handful of pixels so we can hop into that simulation and have a quick drive. Whichever’s easiest. Ta.
