Credit crunchers

Last week, we celebrated Credit Crunch Week on Top Gear. Well, not celebrated, exactly. That would be a bit tasteless. Solved it, maybe. No, not solved. Offered a few helpful pointers, that’s what we did.

Helpful pointers on cars that prove that ‘having a laugh’ and ‘not having to sell vital organs for petrol money’ aren’t mutually exclusive concepts. Cars that stick a pair of fingers up to the fiscal crisis while powersliding off into the sunset. Or something.

Anyhow. We grouped all these fantastic cars together into five categories, outlined below in that different colour. Click on them to find lots of suggestions for your next penny-pinching family runabout. Along with the odd Gallardo, Ariel Atom and Aston DB4…

Monday: hot hatches
Tuesday: sports cars
Wednesday: diesels
Thursday: big saloons
Friday: tiny small things

So that was Credit Crunch Week. Now that it’s over, we can all go back to investing in inadvisable pyramid schemes and lighting expensive cigarettes with £50 notes.
