There appears to be an inherent problem in normal wheel-to-wheel racing: there isn't nearly enough FIRE! and EXPLOSIONS! and WANTON CAR DESTRUCTION! Thankfully, Dirt Showdown is here to make life a little more fiery.
Released in May 2012, it is the latest addition to the hugely successful Dirt racing series (formerly known as Colin McRae) but, unlike other entrants, this game is singularly focussed on utter, balls-out destruction. So a lot like when Jeremy gets behind the wheel of a car, then.
Showdown features three categories: full-contact ‘Racing' featuring "gaming's most advanced damage engine", ‘Demolition Derby' that allows players to wantonly annihilate fellow racers, and ‘Hoonigan' events which cater for your inner Ken Block.

Locales span from San Francisco to Miami and London to Tokyo, through 50 events across four championships, and the cars on offer include Block's new HFHV Fiesta, saloons, muscle cars, pick-up trucks, hearses and even vans.
And we've got a first look at some actual gameplay footage from the '8 Ball' event, below, as well as stills from the game. Have a gander and tell us if you're excited...

This looks like one of the most exciting games in ages, almost like something from the 'flatout' series.

That looks a lot like Codemasters Race Driver GRID. There was a race mode named Crashderby and that was a hell of a lot of fun. So Codemasters know what they are doing. Let us just hope they didn't forget about it in all their excitement. Btw, is the new game comming for PC, too?
