Retro-styled Dodge coupe is staying firmly in the USA. Boo

Dodge Challenger

Put those star-spangled leather pants and cowboy boots back in the attic, 'cos we're not getting the Dodge Challenger. Boo.

Despite Dodge saying earlier this year that its new retro coupe would be available in the UK in right-hand drive, the recent sale of Chrysler to Cerberus has led to a rapid reassessment of Dodge's European aims.

That means the third generation Challenger will be sold in the US only, and in much more limited numbers than was originally thought.

However, truly determined Brits will still be able to import a Challenger when it goes on sale early next year.

Powered by a 6.4-litre V8 which develops 505bhp - but word is that the V8 might grow to as much as seven litres to keep up with the Ford Mustang and Chevy Corvette - it should be a handsome beast, as we're expecting it to look very close to these concept photos.

Of course, it'll only be available in left-hand drive, but at least if you're sat on the wrong side of the car there's less chance of passing drivers spotting your leather pants.
