While Top Gear mag was drawing up its cars of the year in a glitzy Portakabin on an industrial estate near Guildford, 58 Very Serious Men from 22 countries were compiling their own list for European Car of the Year.
Interestingly, the Very Serious Men have drawn some similar conclusions to our own musings. Just look at the finalists (click on the blue words for our awards):
- Citroen DS5
- Fiat Panda
- VW Up
- Range Rover Evoque
- Ford Focus
- Toyota Yaris
- Vauxhall Ampera
The winner will be revealed on the opening day of the Geneva Motor Show this March.

I don't know if it has all the requirements for the car of the year award (reasonable price) but it 's definitely bmw 1m

I think the concept of the Ampera is great, it will make more sense than a Prius but it's untried in the real world yet. The DS5 looks great but for me it has to be the Evoque with its blend of style and versatility.
