Randall Reed Ford’s 700bhp Mustang

Here’s one for Hammond

Since Hammond looked a bit miserable on that Vincent Black Shadow bike last night, we thought we'd dig out something to cheer up our favourite diminuitive muscle car fan: a 700bhp Mustang from American tuning firm Randall Reed Ford.

OK, it's hardly the subtlest tuning job, but when was lairy American muscle supposed to be subtle?

The Mustang's 4.6-litre V8 has been beefed up from its standard 315bhp to a whopping 700bhp, thanks to a brace of giant turbochargers, a new high-flow exhaust and, of course, a remapped ECU.

Those mean-looking wheels are 20-inchers, with 14-inch brakes beneath for added stoppability.

Apparently there's a bodykit, too, though we're darned if we can spot it.

Unlike most aftermarket jobs, the Randall Speed Mustang will be available through a handful of official Ford dealers in the US. Price? Let's just say it's a bit cheaper than a stunningly rare 1940s motorbike...

yeah it does look lkie something from need for speed. in fact im sure i remember making one very similar to that on nfs most wanted. still cool though.

VieVentar, the stock one isn't as bad to drive as the TG boys would have you believe. Yes, its big and lumbering, but thats its point, and if you see it against the Exige in S8, it was 2 seconds behind and the stig looked like he was having lots more fun. As for this 700hp job, its looks stupid but will be one hell of a machine, for a lot less than that ludicrous M6 g-string, but is it better than a Super Snake?

BTW I have tuned mustangs on NFS for years and I would never have built anything so preposterous, and in Forza 2 I never change the looks, except for some mean wheels and colour (no gaudy shit)

Plus, how can you tell the Stig was having more fun in the Mustang? He doesn't have a face! Plus that's down right subtle for NFS, and no. Nothing's better than a Super Snake. Nothing American anyway.

thanks Mikeado, I was referring to the body kit and rims as being stupid. The Black/blue combination was used on the Boss Mustangs of 69/70. This new shape, though not as nice as the old, isn't out till autumn, but the aftermarket, er, market for the Mustang is huge, mainly because Ford couldn't be bothered to finish it properly, and because it is a cool car to begin with. Personally, I hate to see their purity ruined by idiots with big shoes and baggy trousers and a gun running business, but they won't stop doing it. In my opinion, the most outlandish Stang you can get away with is the Saleen S302. I assume the Stig is having more fun because of the lazy drifts and better comfort, doing that on a game makes me all gooey. And yes, I agree, nothings better than a Super Snake. I saw a chrome one at the Abu Dhabi motor show and I was actually vibrating with pleasure. Its probably a tricky sod though

That Ford is on of the best looking cars i have seen this year. Sure it will handle like a trolley at the supermarket. it kinda look likes it has been tuned in a video game with that nice paint job and rims

Stang428 - It would not be able to navigate the street I'm currently living on, let alone park on it, so I'd rather have the Elise. Plus it would be a damn site more fun, and practical, on Cornish roads.

Vieventar, OK, of course in the UK it make little sense to have a Mustang, but I live in the UAE, so it is inconceivable to have an Exige (too hot and few bends). There is also the problem of being squished by a Landcruiser. But if you find a car park or something to faff about, the Mustang would be more of a laugh

hi guys all this noise about how good or bad the stang is your missing the point the new one came out apeing the old fastbacks 68/70 to evoke warm nostalgice feelings and sell more cars. now the old ones could be made powerfull and fast that was easy but no old stang ever steered or stopped unless you threw alot of money at it but they hit the style button so the home market forgave it. the new one is the same it looks great (in a retro way) but it still needs work to properly compete but it was never ment to. just enjoy it for what it a highpowered ego trip and enjoy the noise.

sorry about the spelling no spell check working. the English take on retro styling still expect todays behavier and motoring niceties, look at the S type Jag we liked it looking like an old Mk2 but would not except shortfalls in useability, finally its nostalgic get out of jail card failed. Richard himself proved this with that vincent arguably the greatest name in bikeing history at least Bentley standard. a fifties bikes whos performance didnt get eclipsed until the early seventies but now completly unaceptable with the vibration, starting, brakes and sparks. I have now developed a new vincent which I was hoping to introduce to richard with lots of older styling cues but no matter how loyal vincent people may be if it does not out performe the whole biking world like the origanal did it will be a wast of time, but in the USA as long as it looks the part that generally OK. sorry Im waffling a bit but I hope you get what I mean. I'm new here does anybody know if Richard reads these?

i have made a very similar car on need for speed undercover and it is great but the 1957 shelby gt 500 is the best ever muscle car.
