Never heard of Formula E? Shame on you. It's a brand new fully electric racing series heading your way later this year. No engines. No petrol. No, um, sound either.
As you'll find out in this video, because it's the first time in the history of ever us mortals get to see - and hear - what the Formula E cars sound like from the cockpit.
It's onboard footage taken from former Formula One driver and current Audi Motorsport jockey Lucas di Grassi, during testing at Donington Park last week. A GoPro camera was strapped quite literally to his face (well, the visor on his helmet), to give you the best possible angle on what he'll experience.
It's safe to say we're quite excited about Formula E here at TG towers. The stats on the car can make them seem a tad soft compared to Formula One, but don't think this new generation of racers are nothing more than ambitiously liveried milk floats.
In the video, di Grassi is running the full qualifying spec 200kW, or 267bhp in old money, from the McLaren sourced batteries. The cars tip the scales at around 800kg, which is good for a 0-60mph time of less than three seconds and limited top speed of 150mph. Fast, then.
This year's cars are all identical, too, which promises some proper firework racing. Round one is in Beijing on 13 September. Stay tuned...
