As we're having a bit of race car day here at TopGear.com - check out the Lotus Evora Cup racer and Porsche 911 GT3 R for evidence - we thought we'd show you one of the coolest racing paintjobs we've seen in a long time.
This is the STP Ferrari 430 Scuderia from British outfit Chad Racing, and we want it. STP - an American fuel additive, since you ask - might not mean a whole lot to most people on these shores, but across the Atlantic it's one of the most iconic liveries in race history, mainly thanks to NASCAR legend Richard Petty.
Petty, the greatest stock car driver in history, won 200 races in his career, many in muscle cars sporting STP's classic blue-and-orange paintjob.
Graham Hill, Jim Clark and Mario Andretti have also raced in STP colours. Even cooler, STP is a sponsor of Richard Noble's ‘Bloodhound' land speed record car, which aims to crack 1,000mph in 2011 or 2012.
Before then, we'll see this most excellent Scud racing in the GT3 category of the British GT championship in the hands of Daniel Brown and Chris Hyman.
Any more suggestions for iconic racing liveries that should be revived? And don't say the Gulf colours. Aston's already nabbed those, sorry.

Lamborghini GT3 should have excelent yellow and green bits. Fluorescent!

I'd love to see Toyota running the old red and white chevrons again, and the Rothmans livery from the Porsche 956. McLaren running in that classic Can-Am orange with white roundels wouldn't go amiss either :)

Wouldn't mind seeing Renault yellow and black colours from the classic F1 cars. Also the John Player would be nice, but I doubt that'll return now. Silk Cut Jaguars? My top choice will have to be the Martini colours. Can't wait for a return for those. Maybe in rallying again? C'mon manufacturers. Please?!

If Martini is going to be a favourite, can I suggest pushing for the early Silver based scheme that was used by Porsche? Still looks extremely cool, possibly more so that on white. I'll just be hiding over there now let I face the flames of livery fundamentalism ;)

If i could candidate a livery to be revived it would be the "Alitalia" livery used by the Lancia Stratos' and 037 rally cars. That one and Mclaren's Marlboro Red and White livery, Just to piss off the nanny gov a little, and if they ask, it's just a bunch of red triangles on a white background!

I don't know a lot of car liverys but I would like to see each car in a matt colour to represent their company, for example ferrari would have matt red and ford could have matt blue but thats just me

for me the best racing liveries that need to come back are Williams cannon livery from the early 90's, rothmans from the mid 90's. Mclaren's marlboro livery Renault's BTCC Nescafe laguna's looked pretty damn nice (at the time)

There are so many great racing colours that should be revived, such as the old John Player Special colours Black and Gold looked so elegant. The Martini and Rothmans designs which were really good looking, the Rothmans liveries were amazing on the porsche 911's and Opel Mantas in 1980's rallying, even the old Jordan colours seem uber cool, bright yellow with the old Benson & Hedges/Buzzin Hornets logo.

The 1995 JGTC Castrol Supra had one of the best schemes going. Personal favourite, followed by the Oreca Vipers with the blue and red going off to one side... and the HKS Skyline GTR R33. And the white Cuszo Impreza livery... and the Denso Sard Supra... etc This is starting to read like a 'favourite cars from Gran Turismo 2' list... Is nostalgia talking or are these cars actually really good looking?
