Citroen GT hits London
Up until now, the GTbyCitroen has been pure virtual reality – a digital-only supercar created for the Gran Turismo video game. So we were a little surprised when these pictures popped into our inbox.
Yep, it’s a real one. In London. Take a good look at the first pic in our
gallery. See the shadows and reflections? That’s not the work of a Photoshop
genius - it’s proof that Citroen has made a proper, touchable concept version.
Looks awesome, doesn’t it? At five metres long and just a metre high, it’s got
a swoopy supercar stance. The gullwing doors don’t look bad either.
Of course, Citroen couldn’t resist a little virtual trickery – some of the shots are renderings from the GT5 Prologue game.
But fear not. The real GT goes to Goodwood next week to drive up a posh
man’s driveway. Hopefully it will have something decent under the bonnet. Maybe
some kind of V8 sourced from outside the Citroen parts store.
If not, there’s always the 1.6-litre diesel from a Berlingo…

the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP engine would be pretty good, 700 horsepower and 890 ft·lbf........

Did it pay the congestion charge? That means it's a proper working car... I did see someone's picture of it at Le Mans so it seems to be making it around. Citroen's biggest engine is a 3.0 V6 as far as I know but if you strapped a few turbos to that it might be alright!

I saw this parked next to the Arc de Triopmh last month. Was working and everything. Wasn't there a Top Gear article about it having a Ford V8 from a Mustang? It looks mental in real life.

A Ford V8 would be excellent. I learnt to drive in a Citroen and drool over Mustangs, so this thing with a 4.6 V8 spankned up to 650hp a la Koenigsegg CC8 would be epic

If this is a photoshop, it's a good'un. Even the reflection in the windscreen seems to fit. One but: in the side window there is a reflection of a bit of blue sky, but it seems a cloudy day in London.

I saw it at the Paris Motorshow, and it's been at Citroen's showroom on the Champs Elysees - it looks brilliant.

That is one of the most fantastic looking cars on earth. If they make it, and I really hope they do, I WILL buy one. What about the new twin turbo 3.0 Diesel from the XF? It's going in the C5 an C6, why not this? Still, I look at this car and immediately think "V12". Why not both? But even if it has the 1.0 3cyl from the C1 I don't care I just want one! As a piece of design more than anything.

i know that the french wouldnt build this as they generally build rubish cheap ugl cars, if they did it would be awsome. Im not shure but i think that that is going to be in gran turismo 5. I THINK.

You don't use Photoshop for such a job. It looks like a rendering to me, not the best one I have seen. Reflections? If you have a 3D model and a HDR image you will get exactly the same lighting and reflections you would get in real life. Guess what it is you are seeing in most car commercials... Some are renderings some are real pictures......yeah yeah yeah..it's French blah blah blah...when will these subliminal stereotypes ever stop? I don't understand why they would source a GM/ or Ford V8 engine when they have an inhouse 520 kW 5.5L V12 diesel engine that won them the Les Mans? I mean with a running of just 20 units, the diesel engine would be justifiable.

Bryanz - it looks so much better than Ingolstadt's blingster because the French (and Italians) can naturally just with a flick of a pen create a masterpiece, whereas Jerry has to spend hours and hours over something... and it still looks pretty terrible even next to Berlusconi's and Sarkozy's weakest designs... Photoshop? Look at the Curry's insignia on the windscreen and bonnet, and the sky on the rear offside wheelarch... and the windscreen again - clouds aren't always grey all over - there are blue partings in them sometimes too...

They have to make that! If they could source the oily bits cheaply (LS7 Corvette ZR1 motor anyone?) then it could be justifiable?
