What you see above is the remains of a Gumpert Apollo. It is no longer in any position to present itself as the same model which can lap our track in record time. A 20-year-old took this very Gump' - his dad's prized £275,000 hypercar - for a spin but lost control of it around a bend, binning it biblically.
Luckily, he and his 19-year-old female passenger emerged virtually unscathed after the smash, which happened in the German town of Brokdorf, near Hamburg. Unluckily for the Gumpert, well, as you can see, it no longer ‘works'.
A police spokesman helpfully added: "The car is a total loss."
You might remember the stats for the Apollo, but if not, the 650bhp 4.2-litre Audi V8 produces 627lb ft of torque and hits 62mph in three seconds, and will do 0-124mph in 8.9 seconds. It tops out at around 224mph and there are also 700bhp and 800bhp versions available. Remember: in Series 11 it was the fastest ever car around the Top Gear track, a record only recently broken in the last series by the Ariel Atom 500 and the Veyron SuperSport.
Oh dear.

well, your minds cannot comprehend what i will do to my son if he crashes a Gumpert Apollo, but thinking about it twice... who will be that amazingly stupid to gave his Apollo to his 20-year old son?? we get the answer now, hahaha...
