You'll have heard of Hamann, the German tuning house responsible for a range of spanner-battered monstrosities including the Ferrari 612 Scag, McMerc SLR ‘Volcano', 911 Turbo and that truly unfortunate Cayenne.
By the standards of that array, Hamann's latest effort - the new BMW 7-Series - looks almost restrained.
Yes, it may have 22-inch two-tone alloys, a big bodykit (including a spoiler! A spoiler on a 7-Series!) and lowered suspension, but hey, at least Hamann stopped short of gull-wing doors. Or an all-chrome paint job. Or turning it into a convertible.
Even the power upgrades are relatively restrained: Hamann's 730d gets a bigger exhaust and ECU tweak to boost power from 245bhp to 290bhp.
However, Hamann does warn that this is only the ‘first tuning stage' - expect more power to follow. Lots more power.

If it is only the ?first tuning stage' let's hope that until the end it will get (much !!) better, because now it ist at not impressive at all.

^ a convertible 7-series? hmmm ... i dont find any good curves on a standard 7-series which could get along if it is made a convertible. at least they dont give the car a carbon fiber suit or any additional paint job. this one looks like a totally restrained hamann mod.

The only thing I like on this car is it's alloys. But I would also want to see more power, much more power.

It seems every one has just ignored the fact that this is no 760 Li monster but a 730d that does 40 mpg!Even just for that and a magnificent BMW status as I go on the road, i'll work weeks without sleep to buy one!

So they took the most expensive BMW (albeit not with the biggest engine on offer) and decided to make it look really cheap. Why exactly? And what's the point of calling it a Hamann product if the power figure starts with a 2 (with only 3 digits)? It's only 45bhp up! That 997 Turbo Stallion was 150bhp up! I hope the next stage of tuning takes it up to 700bhp, probably with 1000lb ft of torque thanks to diesel power. As for styling, as I've said, it looks cheap, due to a rubbish bodykit and garden-variety black. But at least it's more restrained than that Cayenne. It's less descreet than that 612 Scaglietti, however, so Hamann haven't completely lost it. I'm waiting for a matt black X6M with 900bhp and 26" wheels. And a silly name.

Makes a really ugly car now look ugly. Its growing on me more and more. Dont mess with the current body kit and up the power!!! I wonder how long it will take a german tuner to get hold of the 5-series GranTurismo? Im betting on 4months max!
