Hennessey Ford GT

Anything you can do... John Hennessey can do better. Just yesterday we featured a custom Chevy Corvette hitting a 231mph top speed along the Texas mile.

Fast enough, considering the ‘Vette is constructed from plastic and tissue paper. But Mr Hennessey has gone even faster. He sent TopGear.com a video showing how his 5.4-litre twin-turbo, 1,200hp Ford GT ran the mile and topped out at 235mph. "We'll turn up the wick a bit more the next time out," Mr Hennessey assured us.

This, frankly, makes the Chevy's ponderous, leaden and lazy 231mph seem lackadaisical. More is better. More wins.

Also, listen out for the many squirrels the GT eats as it accelerates down the straight...

Hennessey also makes a 'Venom GT'. It's very fast, and often on fire. We've driven it...
