Hennessey Venom GT

This weekend, lots of people will trample over a man's lawn to look at cars drive up a hill.

That, in its simplest form, is the annual Goodwood Festival of Speed. In reality, it is a tyre-smoking, supercar-draped display of motoring excellence, held on the Earl of March's estate since 1993. And this year, John Hennessey is bringing his Venom GT.

After-burner: Hennessey Venom GT

The little yellow mentalist is filmed here preparing for its big debut at this year's FoS, and is apparently ‘able to put down over 800hp without the help of traction control'. Since you asked nicely, we'll remind you that this Lotus-based vegetable shrinker also comes in 1,000bhp variety, courtesy of its supercharged 6.2-litre V8 engine lifted from the Corvette ZR1.

Going to Goodwood? Then you'll need to read our quick preview to give you a rundown on the metal on display. Not going to Goodwood? Stay tuned to TopGear.com because we'll have lots of delightful stuff from the show.

I really hope this car ends up handling well, and isn't just another American dragster. Love the look of the thing! So menacing.

You think they would post some video footage of it going around a corner so people don't instantly dismiss it as a drag car.

the car is yellow with outlandish styling. you'd think it in a video would be extraordinary... but, it wasn't. that video was awfully boring. they could have added a few corners and possibly a drift or something. i agree with Joe_Limon. this clip does not win the hearts or excite the crowds. preview videos are marketing tools. and they failed... miserably.

you should put the video of the lap of the Venom GT around Goodwood circuit... just to see if it's as good as it seems to be!
