Hinson Motorsports

American company Hinson Motorsports attempted to break its own record for the standing mile in a Corvette last weekend at the Texas Mile.

FYI, that record was 224mph. They tried to go for a 230+mph run when something went horribly wrong. Their modified Corvette - packing a faintly ludicrous 1,738bhp - got airborne into its record-breaking attempt and came to a rest. Violently.

Using whatever luck was left in the universe, the driver managed to walk away unharmed, still unsure how he flipped dramatically. Watch the video below and then ask yourselves... how?

How? Simple. Without the proper aero package soon enough cars just become wings. Anybody that has watched NASCAR knows this. C'mon guys you're making the rest of us Americans look bad. All money and no brains.

We knews it would go right quick but we ain't think it would turn into no air o plane. Perhaps on the next try they'll think about adding proper downforce to work with that 1700 hp.

That looked like some kind of mechanical failure. The fact that they showed the shredded wheel, rim and tire make me think that the wheel fractured and let loose.

Begs the question - why bother when a Veyron SS can already do 267.91mph?
