Infiniti is heading to the Geneva show next month with a all-new concept that looks like… well, we have no idea what it looks like.
The only hint that Infiniti has given about the Essence concept (for that is what it is called) is a cryptic teaser picture – showing, we think, a steeply-raked C-pillar, but in fairness it could just be a posh ashtray – and the assertion that the Essence will be ‘an inspiring exploration into the brand’s future’.
Which translates as ‘we might actually build this’. Best guesses are that the Essence will preview a big two-door coupe – perhaps BMW 6-Series size – which could enter production as Infiniti’s flagship performance model. Well, it’d fit pretty well with Infiniti’s happy knack of managing to be socially inappropriate whether they mean to or not.
However, there is one more subtle hint. Infiniti tells us that the concept will represent ‘the essence of its brand’. So here’s the question: if you were to distill Infiniti down to its very core, what sort of car would you end up with?
Suggestions below, please – and all shall be revealed in Geneva.

It could be GT-R - based if it is that sort of size, though I expect probably with the V8 from an FX50S and RWD. With lots of odd angles and curves like the rest of their cars. And I think they do mean to be inapropriate - their slogan is "If the neighbors don't like it, we probably did everything right".

I think it could be trying to compete with the bentley contentential GT, Maserati Gran turismo, Aston Martin V8 vantage and the porsche 911 for the luxury and practicalish (except the V8 vantage on that one). Probably could be a nissan Skyline underneath but change the engine for a naturally aspirated engine such as a V10 or much more likely a V8 or have some turbos on like most of the competition are now doing to help on fuel economy. and knowing it they will have every gadget known in the world but will probably have a fancy way of accessing is like an idrive or sumthing related to it

I looked at this closely and I know what it is. This may come as a surprise, with its awkward shape, but actually it is the picture of the c pillar. I looked at the same picture on another website, and there it wasn't cropped like in this one. In that one you could tell there was a tire, under the supposed window. I looked closer and I'm sure this is the c pillar of perhaps two cars: a large coupé and a matching saloon.
