M is for hybrid
Back in August, Infiniti showed us its new M, a 5-Series/E-Class rival set to reach the UK next summer.
We thought it looked quite nice, in a sort of Panamera-meets-Lexus-IS-with-maybe-a-bit-of-BMW-1-Series-too sort of way. And now Infiniti has announced that it will introduce a hybrid version of the M in 2011, inventively called the M35 HYBRID.
No, that's not us using capital letters for dramatic effect. It's actually called the M35 HYBRID, which could get a bit tiresome if you actually have to SHOUT each time you mention it.
The hybrid will feature an electric motor providing power to the rear wheels alongside Nissan's 3.5-litre V6. It'll feature a twin-clutch transmission, with the first clutch installed between the V6 and the electric motor. Infiniti says this set-up will provide more linear performance than existing hybrid systems.
Like the Lexus LS, the M35 HYBRID (yep, getting irritating already) can run on a combination of electric and petrol power for maximum performance, or solely on electric power for a short period of time. The battery will recharge from both the engine and from energy recovered during braking.
Infiniti has not yet released any performance or economy details for the M35 HYBRID, but expects it to reach the road early in 2011.

hybirds dont work they are a short term fix to our current fuel crisis, the inevitable truth is that we will use solar or hydrogen cars. even at the moment a big guzzling petrol car bought cheap on the used market converted to lpg is a great idea as it gives the economy of a diesel. eg i bought a 1999 bmw 740i for £1900, spent £1500 on the lpg kit and now get 40mpg. its great so hybird is a waste of time. this car looks hideous the logo to begin looks like the tata logo which is a bad start on a luxury car, then theres the styling it looks like the bmw 7 series from about 2004 a tremendously ugly car now this actually is not too bad looking but nonetheless its best sticking to the proper luxury brands merc and bmw they just have been in the buisness so long they have the experience to do the job right. this is a big nissan in 10 years it will be a taxi car for airports

It LOOKS kinda like an M3 killer but when guy in a real M3 wants to race you u put your foot down and its the sound of nothing, And while the M3 gets to 60 in 5sec u in your 'green' car get to 60 in about 5 weeks.

Hydrogen fuel cell's are the future, Car companys shouldn't be concerned about electric cars. This really pisses me off because they know this for a long time, and they still do electric cars and give them a bigger price tag instead of trying to discover how to store hydrogen.

I have a feeling Infiniti will have a law suit coming soon with BMW because of using the M name for a high performance car which I am very sure about have copyrighted it

If I had a hybrid, I wouldn't advertise the fact. I'd put the pedal to the metal at every light, just to make sure everyone heard the engine roar. Only then would I shout: 'But it's a HYBRID!' So to me the capitals make sense. Sort of. I wouldn't ever buy any Infinity though.

well, if you "put the pedal to the metal", there would be no point in having a hybrid, because ( and i'm going to sound like james may) if you floor a hybrid, the petrol engine kicks in, and then it's not a hybrid.

Change the wheels alloys to Rays, Bridgestones or OZ.

y cant they make hybrid cars look good, if i were designing them i would put massive 22in wheels on it and really nice wide body kit!!!!!!!!!!!!!

booooorrrrriinng, who actually gives a shit about hybrid's ? everybody knows that the future is in hydrogen fuel cells so why are manufacturers still wasting their time with jumped up priuses instead of investing in the something which is proven to be a far better alternative to petrol than hybrids ? decent looking car though
