Black booty
See more Insignia VXR Sports Tourer pics
Earlier this week, Vauxhall showed us its police car. Today, it has revealed its quickest ever estate - the Insignia VXR Sports Tourer. Combine the two, and you’d have a properly quick jam sandwich.
How quick? Here are the stats: 0-60 in six seconds, 325bhp from a 2.8-litre supercharged V6 and four-wheel drive with an electronic limited-slip diff. Shouldn’t have a problem getting that power to the tarmac, then.
Mr Plod would be pleased. Especially as his VXR Sports Tourer sits 10mm lower than the regular car, has Recaro buckets, and a chunky VXR steering wheel and gearknob to grip as he chases down scummy joyriders.
Of course, it probably won’t be a police car. Which means you can spec it in this stealthy black like the car in these pics (other, less stealthy colours are available).
No word on prices yet, but perhaps people will think twice before plumping for an Audi S4 or BMW 335i. Vauxhall has the Germans in its sights…
Now read about the Insignia VXR saloon.

"Vauxhall has the germans in its sight" ??? Vauxhall and VRX for that matter is more or less just a badge. This car is german = Opel Insignia OPC. (OPC = Opel Performance Center)

WANT. I actually desire a Vauxhall estate (perhaps because it's a reasonably realistic dream?). I like the concept car exhaust pipes, and those tusks are way more discreet on this black one than the white saloon (though I guess that's kinda obvious). I wonder how good the AWD is, because, other than any futile attempt to top Ingolstadt's build quality, that's where it will need to stack up against Audi. But good to see that this German has the Germans in its sights. Er...

It looks THE business. Defo not one for social-climbing egotistical gits who favour the perceived genital enhancing qualities of the germanic stable.

What do you mean, have the Germans in their sights? This car IS German. Opel? Although it's a nice thought to believe that the UK still has a large independent automaker.

Nice car indeed, maybe Vauxhal should start importing HSV Estates as VXR8 Estates now that is a really quick Estate..

Well, as others also said, nice to see this german with the other germans in its sights... Vauxhall didn't do much for this car.... they don't even assemble it!!! And for the people in the US, don't worry, the Insignia will get there end of the year... something about a Buick being built in Germany....

Yes, since the 1980s or somewhere around then, Vauxhalls have just beeen rebadged Opels... but that's no bad thing, because they are reliable as BMW and M-B, and they're just as solidly put together. Plus now, they gunning to head to the premium-ish sector of the market, they just might be as desirable (and less snobbish) like Audis. Did you know...? Vauxhall used to be battling it out with Rolls-Royce and Bentley at the top of the tree in the late 1800s and early 1900s...

Just to clarify in my last comment, Vauxhalls are less snobbish than Audis (usually...) and that, I really do not know everything about cars at all, but I do keep little bits of interesting information as above for commenting on websites such as these...

Nice motor, especially in that stealthy black. Definitely doesn't have the snob value of BMW or Audi and that may well be a good thing for many people.
