See more Insignia VXR Sports Tourer pics
Earlier this week, Vauxhall showed us its police car. Today, it has revealed its quickest ever estate - the Insignia VXR Sports Tourer. Combine the two, and you’d have a properly quick jam sandwich.
How quick? Here are the stats: 0-60 in six seconds, 325bhp from a 2.8-litre supercharged V6 and four-wheel drive with an electronic limited-slip diff. Shouldn’t have a problem getting that power to the tarmac, then.
Mr Plod would be pleased. Especially as his VXR Sports Tourer sits 10mm lower than the regular car, has Recaro buckets, and a chunky VXR steering wheel and gearknob to grip as he chases down scummy joyriders.
Of course, it probably won’t be a police car. Which means you can spec it in this stealthy black like the car in these pics (other, less stealthy colours are available).
No word on prices yet, but perhaps people will think twice before plumping for an Audi S4 or BMW 335i. Vauxhall has the Germans in its sights…
Now read about the Insignia VXR saloon.

Nice motor, especially in that stealthy black. Definitely doesn't have the snob value of BMW or Audi and that may well be a good thing for many people.
