New Gymkhana video hits web

Ken Block’s latest tyre-shredder is a definite return to form. Can you spot all the references?

Gymkhana 4

Yes, our favourite tyre murderer, Mr Ken Block, is back. Another motoring ballet masterpiece in the Gymkhana series hit the interweb last night - number four - and it's one of his better ones.

If you haven't been keeping up, the Gymkhana series had relatively humble beginnings, with Block demonstrating pretty skids in an airfield. Since then he's raised the bar somewhat by smashing his way through more fluorescent lights than stag dos in Blackpool, making a dodgy music video, drifting up a 51-degree bank, and of course, an appearance in one of the prettiest films we've ever done on Top Gear.

The latest hoonigan epic sees Kenny from the Block takes his all new H.F.H.V, or "Hybrid Function Hoon Vehicle" on an explosive trip to Universal studios. With a nod to Hollywood (and the product placement that finances it) Block slides his way around the explosive sets of some world-famous films. Can you name them all? And is this a return to form, or what?

Seems more of a marketing exercise (like G2) than a pure car video (like G1 and G3), but I can't deny that it put a smile on my face. I don't think Block is the "driving god" that his PR team claim he is, but he is a guy making the most of the opportunities presented to him. Can't knock him for that as I would do the same in his position! As for the videos G1 remains my fave and I doubt he will ever produce anything that has the same initial impact that film did.
