Gone to cee’d
If, like us, you'd sort of forgotten about the Kia cee'd, this facelift might come as a surprise. The cee'd has only been around for 18 months, so this nip and tuck has come a little earlier than usual.
The car gets Kia's new family face, which is nicked from the fantastically
exciting Magentis. The bonnet has been re-sculpted and the bumper, grille and
lights have all been updated. Inside, the centre console has been made ‘more
intuitive' (no fumbling around for the volume knob, then) and you can now have
a Bluetooth kit.
It's a good car, the cee'd - a genuine Ford Focus rival for not-much-money. This
facelifted version will be shown at Frankfurt later this year, alongside two
all-new models (cars, not girls).
Maybe this new look will help it stick in the memory a little longer.

I was looking for a car about 2 years ago and unfortunately for me, one of the better used car dealerships here was also a Kia dealership... so you couldn't go looking for a semi-decent used car without first having to be practically bribed into considering the laughable Cee'd. Lesson learned? Never go to Asia for a facelift.

First let me clarify, before Kia took over the lease, it was an MG/Rover dealership - says it all, doesn't it? Across the road is a Toyota dealership, and when the economy went tits up, the Toyota dealership bought the plot reserved for all the used cars previously sold in the Kia garage (as well as all the cars) just so they could store all the Toyotas that nobody was buying. LOL!

@ TheoTheJew I think I would probably buy a Kia before a Fiat! OK I would buy the 500 but it's too small for me and my wife for some reason doesn't like it :-(

Now, it looks even more like new Focus. And that means, you'll see much less from its now even higher bonnet. As for Fiat lovers... are you serious? If you want calm life with your car - Polo, Golf. If you want to look like fashion victim or just like a woman - Fiats! XD

All they've done is given it their bottle-opener grille and all the new bits from the 3dr Pro_Cee'd. Not to say it doesn't look good. BUT IT LOOKS NOTHING LIKE A BLOODY FOCUS! Not even slightly.

They've clearly ripped off Ford's design theme, that couldn't possibly look more like a Focus if they tried

I think the front is an amalgamation of a Ford Focus, any number of Chevrolets, and a Skoda Fabia, with hints of a Honda Civic. So that would make it the Kia Foletbiavic... and all of the German scientists in the world couldn't find a cream to clear that one up when you get it burning your knob.

What a load of bull. With every new Kia there are comments it's nicked its design from god knows how many other cars. If we go analyze every car like that, especially the cheaper models, we could go on forever. Just because it says Kia on the back means it has to jump hurdles even before people have seen or driven it. I like it :)

I seriously can't see a single line in that picture that resembles a Ford Focus. And good on you Mavista. We need more open-minded thinking like that.

Mavista, the Kia's looks are irrelevant - to me, Ferraris are ugly. The point is with ALL Kia's - like Peroduas, Protons, or Daewoos - is that they are nothing more than mass-produced, basic, disposable methods of transportation that get people who cannot afford relative luxury from A to B, and maybe C or D at a push. That?s it; nothing more. It gives people with little money the ability to travel farther and slightly faster than they would if they used a mule.

i would not buy a kia. the main problem with it is that it and so many other brands like hyundai, proton and perodua are too new and are not established. therefore the brand kia has no prestige level. and all these cars are ugly i would prefer a car like a punto or 308. at least peugeot and fiat have been making cars for some time

They are designed, made, and sold to be shit. They look awful, they drive atrociously, they?re cheap, not terribly reliable ? some people swear by New Look jewellery; I look at the bracelets on my girlfriend?s wrists as the plastic shackles of lower class oppression, but they are bought because they are made to be disposable.

There is a reason why they are jumping hurdles ? Skoda, despite being owned by VW, are still doing it. One word: reputation. Cars deserve to be analysed ? we drive the damn things, we take our families all over the world in them, we use them as essential tools ? our lives revolve around them. If we don?t analyse them, we let the market fall into a state where one of the essential elements of our lives becomes nothing more than a roll of toilet paper.

Looks like an astra. Cee'ds are well kitted out though. I'd be interested to see how it compares to a similarly specced astra and focus around the tg track!

The_Monk, Kia are finally getting their act together, and it's all starting with the Cee'd. European-grade build quality, a good drive (for a dull car), 7 year warranty, plus the Soul and Picanto are real options. the only thing stopping it and Kia's progress is closed-minded generalisations about their cars. Thinking like yours.

why buy a hatchback that's not a Fiat? that's right, no reason at all. go on, go and get a 500/Grande Punto/Bravo and live a happy life.
