The anty Lambo
If for some bizarre reason Lamborghini is struggling for design ideas, it could do worse than this awesome creation from aspiring Romanian designer Iulian Bumbu.
Bumbu, who trained in Alfa Romeo's styling department, abandoned Lambo's bull-related heritage and looked at insects for inspiration - the Insecta (see what he's done there?) takes its design cues from the little creatures' exoskeletons.
He's combined that armoured shell look with the familiar Lambo geometric angles to create a pretty hard looking interpretation of a future Gallardo.
The mid-engined, two-seater measures up in size to the current LP560-4 and has been designed with the same 552bhp, 5.2-litre V10 powertrain in mind.
Will they build it? Unlikely. But can you imagine a real Lambo inspired by the marriage of a bull and a scary-looking insect? Your comments below, please...

This is nice... Seriously nice. I think it is the best supercar design since the Birdcage 75th. It manages to be sexy and original in the world of wedge. Too bad the current Gallardo (and the one before it) are both just... well they are BAD. The Insecta is the way to for Lamborghini.

Looks like designer has no knowledge of history of automobile industry. Lamborghini would never produce a car with a neme or bionical design cues of insect or any other animal rather than a bull. It is companys main idea! As I think you cant change design of details like headlights, bumpers, doors and styling every time you produce a new model. It means there is no heritage

I don't think Lambo will call it an Insecta but I like the lines and the glass bubble windscreen looks fantastic, like a Le Mans racer.

I here people mentioning that Lamborghini will never put this into production because Lamborghini will only focus on animal imspiration from bulls. I've been thinking however, why dont they do what Dodge did with the Viper? As in, change the picture on the model badge from a bull to something insect related like they changed the head of a ram to a snake head for the Viper? Just a thought. An optimistic one at that

I personally think this design is quite inspiring, and would be a great direction to go in. BTW, if anyone can explain how the Countach's design was inspired by a bull, I would love to be enlightened.

Quite agree with the comments about the name. The designers of the allegro for instance were under no illusions about the look that they had created, particularly when it came in its all too familiar shade of brown. But at least they has the wherewithall not to actually call it the "austin poo". Mr. Bumbu should take note and go for something a little more glamorous next time.

The car looks great, but those headlights blow the whole deal, they just make this scary looking car (just like a Lambo should look like) appear like it's about to cry. They should flip those headlights (mirror style) and then it would look angry and a lot more like a true Lambo. I really think this is awsome, we need new radical designs, especially for supercars, and the maddest car company in the world should live up to it's name and do just that, be mad! P.S. I don't know if anyone noticed this also, but except for those sad headlights, those lambo doors loook great on this car!

I agree with the front. It needs the Reventon nose to sort it out... Looks a lot like the Murcielago from the side. The back is pretty insane and i love it. But i think the "cockpit" can be modified a bit to the read and you need to be able to see the engine!! Its a Lambo c'mon! Unless future lambo's are gonna be electric or hydrogen powered... But still, you should be able to see the machinery from behind the rear windscreen or somewhere around!

I don't like it. Just looks like to me a mix of those future cars from the 50s with like the bubble roofs that they said everyone will be driving and the car off the jetsons. Stupid and trying to mix an insect with a bull is like trying to mix a chav with the Queen wouldnt work and would only end in tears. Brilliant! I'd like to see more from this designer, especially where bugs are concerned. Maybe the new Lambo mascot will be a bull with antennae for horns and a couple of bug wings on it's back, Pegasus-style... This car would look great in a blackish-purple color, like the Highland green Mustang in Bullitt, where the color is only visible when the light strikes it just right. Then it would definitely look like an ant!

my first comment is about Top Gear, there is no show that i ever enjoyed watching more than TG, i also cant stress enough that the show has choosen the best people for the show, even if the cars are not interesting im still glued to the seat waiting for the next comment to come out of J's mouth. Brilliant, i wish i could be a part of it one day. Till then i will help make it better with my comments and opinions. Oh, regarding the Car, the Insect Lambo, if it can be killed with insect spray its not good, the roar and performance of a Lambo can never be taken away from it but what they put on the outside could affect people bying it and the way they look at it. I for one love it; the designer has a very bright future ahead of him. You can clearly see that he takes certain influences from Chris Bangle with this creation, who is responsible for the flame styling direction of BMW who made his name with the Fiat coupe.

the side profile is gorgeous, lambo should definately seriously consider designing this, the front end looks like it will eat up anything smaller than a horse. and the stance looks amasing. id love to know what insect insipered him cos if a bee flew at me looking like that id have tears in my eyes and trousers full of butt mud, it looks really intimidating. It looks freaking insane!!! In a really really cool way!! I'ld love to see it built. And Lamborghini are the only car manufacturers right now who've actually got the balls to put radical designs into production. But do they have the money is a different story!!
