Block party
Firas Abu-Jaber makes cars out of Lego. OK, so it’s hardly a novel idea – who among us didn’t fashion some sort of rudimentary Volvo estate creation in our younger years? – but here’s the difference: Mr Abu-Jaber’s cars are truly awesome.
They’re all made from regular Lego blocks – none of yer cheating specialised sets here – and they’re so good that we’re genuinely considering inventing some sort of a human Lego-iser to shrink us down to tiny, daft-haired form so we can have a drive in them. Or ‘The Ecclestonator’, as it shall be called.
Our favourite? It has to be the Ford GT, though Knight Rider’s KITT is pushing it a close second.
In the spirit of nostalgia, let’s throw this one out there: what was your finest automotive Lego creation? Anything better than TG telly’s Caterham?

Must ask, how did he make the wheels?

Technically it was some sort of single-seater racecar, possibly Formula 3 series. That said, it was done with the appropriate Lego kit, so I guess it doesn't count. It does make me want to buy a big tub of the stuff and have a go. Reckon I could make a pretty decent Audi R8 if I wasted enough hours over it...

Hi, just registered to post this comment, I know him across the internet (true!) he's a great builder. Now, you guys might want to check out some of what the other adult builders make, Lino Martins for instance and Ralph Savelsberg. Now when I get a chance to show off I don't, so here are some of mine: http://www.mocpages.com/image_zoom.php?mocid=121908&id=/user_images/13224/12431526593 http://www.mocpages.com/image_zoom.php?mocid=121908&id=/user_images/13224/12431526594

Apart from the R12 diesel, those looked like actual Lego products! Truly brilliant. I used to collect and build those 'Drome Racers' cars. They were cool, and very fast. As for creativity, it didn't take much to turn a Ferrari F2005 into this year's entry - longer base for the front wing, put some small bricks under the rear wing to make it taller - so I also gave it subtle headlights too. Other than that, mixing up existing sets usually makes a cool car.

the joys of lego back in primary school we would spend hours making the perfect car, it usually ended up as a big house with a windscreen, steering wheel, and 4 small wheels creating big overhangs. and when our cars were complete we smashed them into eachother the winner was the one with most peices together
