Lexus has announced a hardcore version of its ballistic LFA supercar designed for the track - and it's orange!
The Japanese firm has designed this limited-edition LFA - just 50 will be built - to celebrate taking on the Nurburgring 24hr endurance challenge. As such, this monster gets a larger front spoiler, side fin-type spoilers and a fixed rear wing.

The stonking 4.8-litre V10 lump has also been fettled to eke out another 10bhp, taking the total banzai-factor to 562bhp, while shifts in the six-speed transmission have been shaved by a Gillette-rivalling 0.15 seconds.
Lexus boffins have also fiddled with the suspension and fitted mesh wheels shod in high-grip track-tasty rubber.
Despite these aerodynamic, engine and suspension changes, the 0-62mph time still takes 3.7 seconds and the LFA tops out at 202mph. But sling it around a track in a hurry and life savings aren't the only thing you'll lose...
If you don't fancy climbing the first tree you see in your spanking new Nurburgring-honed LFA, then drivers are offered individual instruction on the Nordschleife circuit and a one-year driving pass to the track as part of the package.
You can probably choose another colour if you want, too.

This car will definitely be worth the wait, can't wait to watch the footage of it on the Nurburgring! Shame the 0-60 time is still the same, unsure how it is, but anyway.

yes, it looks awesome, yes its orange, yes, it has little carbon fibre bits sticking out, but - as Richard pointed out when he tested the original version (with a little prodding from Jezza!) - It's still a Lexus! *cringe*

i read about this on another website, 50 will be made. and its a 0-62 time not 0-60. call me rediculous but those 2mph can make 0.1-0.2 seconds difference. anyway this is fabulous, yes a superleggera has the same amount of power for less money but this is more hardcore (4wd vs. Rwd) and this is the one id have, this is a true supercar.

Saw one of these at the Chicago Auto Show, no one else seemed to take notice. Every half-wit was more interested in some god-awful Camaro "custom." As Hammond once said, it's "an engineer's wet dream," but little else. It lacks the passion, originality, and X-factor of other supercars (or, sportscars, for you pedantics). I read an article somewhere that Lexus only makes cars because other companies make equivalent models. If Nissan didn't make the GT-R, if Ferrari didn't make the 458 Italia, and Lamborghini didn't make the Gallardo, this car would never exist. It's less than an antithesis, it's a cop-out. Furthermore, no one in their right mind is going to buy one when they could buy a more-than-comparable Ferrari and a (more than decent) daily driver for the same price. The only folks that will buy one are the super-rich Japanese who, out of a sense of national pride, feel they must.
