This is not the next Subaru Impreza. It is a concept that 'hints' at a future design direction.
The Impreza design concept was yesterday unveiled at the Los Angeles Motor Show, and previews the company's new design strategy, blending such high-minded ideas as 'dynamic flow' and 'confident stance'. We say 'mmm, tasty'.
See pics of the Subaru Impreza design concept
Underneath that rather dandy new four-door-coupe stance sits a 2.0-litre boxer engine - down from the 2.5-litre of old - mated to a 'Lineartronic Continuously Variable Transmission' (CVT) and permanent all-wheel-drive, representing Scooby's next generation powertrain. Good news, because it means the company's brief dalliance with 2WD is at an end.
Certainly a massive improvement over the current Impreza styling, and one we can only hope makes it to production. Subaru - make it happen...

I'm split. I like it better than the current Impreza, but it looks remarkably close to a 1990s Chevy Cavalier and that was met with no long standing applause. We'll have to see how the WRX and STi turn out. Otherwise, we may just have to way for the Legacy Spec B...

Couldn't really be worse than the current one that's for sure! They seem to want to get away from the old Subaru shape and colour scheme and do hatchbacks, CVTs and diesels, when all the world wants is a blue Scooby saloon with gold wheels and a nutter turbo under the bonnet.

I agree with StigsIrishCousin It looks good but it doesn't look like an impreza, not aggressive enough. It needs a huge spoiler and a bonnet scoop

Perhaps the least exciting _concept_ car I've ever seen? Perhaps Toyota have too much say in the direction Subaru are taking now? I mean really, it's a Subaru concept, yet it wouldn't look out of place sat next to a Prius!
