Has NASA been watching Top Gear?

An unfortunate incident with the Mars Rover Exploration vehicle seems familiar…

Mars gentleman sausage

In a week where we discovered that Lady Gaga is our new biggest fan, it now appears that Top Gear’s fame may even have gone extra-terrestrial.

Overnight, pictures have appeared on the NASA website beamed back from the twin exploration vehicles Spirit and Opportunity.

Spirit and Opportunity have spent nine years on Mars, covering many miles looking for signs of water and potential life.

And it would appear that one, or both, of them has accidentally drawn a gentleman sausage on the surface of one of our nearest planets.

As viewers of our road-trip to California from series 19 will remember, a similar mishap occurred when Jeremy, James and Richard held a race on an LA storm drain in a Lexus LF-A, Aston Martin V12 Vanquish and an SRT Viper. All to the horror of the ever-helpful woman at Lexus roadside assistance.

Has anyone else been stricken by this increasingly common piece of misfortune?
