’Porte Royal
You're Maserati. You've got a shiny new 4.7-litre V8 with 430bhp sitting around the factory, so what do you do with it?
Stick it under the bonnet of your lovely four-door saloon, that's what. Maserati has just revealed the updated version of its really-rather-desirable Quattroporte, and the big news is that there's now a proper 'S' version, complete with the bigger V8 from the GranTurismo S and the Alfa 8C Competizione.
Maser says the engine is of a 'different specification' to the unit in the GT S, though, which probably means an engine remap for a slightly more relaxed torque curve. It'll put its power to the rear wheels through the six-speed ZF auto transmission.
The Quattroporte gets a few midlife styling revisions, too, including a new grille, freshened-up LED light clusters and revised door mirrors. You'd obviously spotted those, though.
We're set to drive the Quattroporte S in just a couple of weeks time. We'll let you know just how good it is as soon as Maser crowbar us out of it.
