Just back from scrutineering and been given the 3-inch thick roadbook for the Mille Miglia. Now quite scared. It’s also raining hard enough to drown ducks and we've made a pact in my XK120 to run the race with the roof down all the way. I am now very much regretting the bravado. Still, have just bought a rather lovely Mille helmet. And will now look daft as well as lost...

Ho'kay. Start time is about 8.30pm, so got to go and get the XK fitted with a transponder and then into Brescia for a parade-type thing. First got to do driver’s briefing and go through the roadbook for amendments. Then proceed to feeling a bit sick with worry. Look like Milk Tray man in my kit...

So happy! Just finished day two and now running 97th of 375... which is pretty good for newbie, I reckon. Ran the Imola circuit within 0.02 of a second of the allotted time. I can't count that fast... now just got to not screw up tomorow. Oh gawd.

Finished the Mille Miglia! Suspension failure failed to stop us. Suicidal locals failed to stop us. No idea of position, but hoping for top 150. Need large whisky. And a massive bed. For about two days. Got to go over finishing ramp and put car away yet...
